ACCA KAPPA's Historical Classic Brown Toothbrush is beautiful, luxurious, and understated.
I'll be the first to admit that paying nearly $40 for a plastic, manual toothbrush is absurd. It's a sincere irrational act of self-love because it's not the kind of consumption you can easily flaunt.
Somewhere between no one at all and a couple of people know what toothbrush you use (except, now y'all know which one I use; still, the point remains). Toothbrushes aren't particularly conspicuous.
The way this object influences my behavior when I'm alone is fascinating.
I'm particularly insecure about my teeth (they're crooked and there were too many of them and some were in places they shouldn't be), so I observe the "brush twice, floss once daily" ritual with dogmatic obligation, no exceptions. The emotional tenor of oral care is different now that I look forward to seeing my toothbrush in the miniature beer glass I got from the MOLAA. I thought I'd feel gross about the lack of extra utility or lack of earth-friendliness. But, after maintaining strictly Spartan shopping criteria, aggressive saving and investment strategy, and generous patroning and organizing for resistance organizations and collectives throughout my entire adult life, I thought to myself:
"Hey champ, why not give this whole treat yourself thing a(nother) whirl? You're gonna use this thing a lot. At worst, you're stuck with a pretty cool-looking toothbrush for a couple of months, and if you're really that embarrassed about it, you can act like it never happened or lie about how much you paid for it."
Whatever it's worth, it makes me feel like a cute gal getting ready for her cute day or cute bed. And I know, for sure, by some manner of dumb luck, every single day is charmed beyond measure. I'd better enjoy it and spread it, ideally both.
