Best comfy women’s button-down? A friend is having a double mastectomy and I want to get her a button-down since she won’t be able to lift her arms over her head for a while after the surgery.

I have a couple of these and really love them - they’re cozy and hold up admirably to the washing machine. Make sure to get a shirt not blouse style, for your friend, since the blouses only button partway down.

Gap Big Shirt

Just bought one of these and it is truly so comfortable, I've been wearing it all the time. The 100% cotton material is really soft on the skin, breathable, and it feels really well made, like the old Gap button downs my mom would wear in the 90s. I would recommend the denim material (the one I have is the brown denim version). I can't speak to the poplin material but I'm sure it's just as comfy! I'm normally a size medium but the size xs fits me really well and is still roomy and doesn't feel too tight.

North Face Half Zip (size up)

A oversized fleece was my most worn item during chemo. Larger sleeves allow IV access for infusions (NF > Patagonia for this reason), and a half zip works best for ports. The fun colors/textures also distract from the sterile/scratchy hospital blankets.
