Popol Vuh - Nosferatu: The Vampyre (Original Soundtrack)

31 Nights of Halloween Tunes, Night XX. Against better judgment, do invite this inside your home! [ambient/new age, krautrock; 1978] "Brüder des Schattens," "Höre, der du wagst," "Mantra."

*This one has a bit of a confusing release history. Popol Vuh released two separate Nosferatu albums in 1978, though Werner Herzog only used a portion of the music contained on either for his film. The first album is titled Brüder des Schattens – Söhne des Lichts and the second is Nosferatu: On the Way to a Little Way. Various reissues of the former have been released under the original title or just Nosferatu: The Vampyre, and most of these combine the majority of the music from both of the soundtrack albums. The most readily found digital edition unfortunately includes a truncated version of the glorious ~19-minute title track from Brüder des Schattens. Fortunately, streaming platforms include a separate listing for the original album where you can hear the complete track (see below). It's really something.
