Chris Bell - "I Am the Cosmos" b/w "You and Your Sister"

Pop music of a rare class. Achingly, heartrendingly gorgeous songwriting. A founding member of Big Star who left the group after their first album, Bell recorded these songs somewhere between 1974 and '75. This 7" single was released in 1978, the same year that Bell, 27 years old, was killed in a car crash two days after Christmas.

Every night I tell myself, "I am the cosmos,
I am the wind,"
But that don't get you back again.
