The best sandwich place in Brooklyn! Worker-owned, sliding-scale, vegetarian/vegan-friendly (but not exclusively; try the Lucy with smoked trout). Great pastries and coffee too, and pizza night on the weekends.
International Museum of Dinnerware Design
If you like public design, you'll love this spot. All things dinnerware, barware, servingware through the lens of founder Margaret Carney et al. (And it's right off the Ulster County bus line that can pick you up and drop you off at the Poughkeepsie MNR station!)
Freebird Books
This is where I've gotten almost all of my cool historical NYC ephemera. A secondhand bookstore with a great cause (Books through Bars NYC) and a keen eye for old New York.
