Lovesick
Originally called Scrotal Recall when it was aired on Channel 4 (a terrible but iconic name), Netflix bought it and then commissioned a follow up season. It’s clever, funny and set in Glasgow which is a lovely and aesthetically pleasing change from the classic London/Oxford student setting for a UK show.

Succumbing to the airfryer hype
To paraphrase the great Nora Ephron; the air fryer is the sheet pan of the ‘20s… I have been dreaming of it since I used it to cook frozen gyoza two months ago and I finally got back home from being abroad and made crispy roasted fennel and chicken meatballs in exactly 15 minutes. I will continue my passionate affair with gusto

La Romana Gelateria
As I enter my ninth month of living in Italy, I long for those halcyon days when I was impressed by every gelato I ate. Unfortunately my friend Lucia (from Emilia Romagna, where she claims they make the only gelato worth eating) has turned me into a snob. If you’re travelling in northern Italy, do yourself a favour and go to La Romana for your gelato fix. They fill the bottom of your cone with melted chocolate and have a great, but small, list of flavours. Don’t be put off by the fact that it’s a chain. None of the locals are.

Academic, fantastical, historical and fundamentally anti-imperialist - you feel intelligent and engaged while also just devouring one of the juiciest page turners I’ve read in years.
