My Rec League Starter Pack

kodak charmera

tiny keychain camera! Takes ok to kinda bad pictures but every now and then there’s a real winner. Leave your phone at home and take this thing wherever tf

carving acorns

I’ve been fixated lately on Roman intaglios - especially the ones that are engraved on amethyst or carnelian and look like delicious artful little cough drops. Makes me want to create my own precious little engravings - acorns start off soft and are easy to carve, but you can leave them in your hot car for a while and they’ll harden into a satisfying almost ivory-like feel

red lentil daal

currently a staple in my house - comes together really quick with as little as 3 ingredients: just toast your red lentils in oil and then add a generous spoonful of red curry paste and water, cover and stir occasionally for 15 minutes. but you can jazz it up easily by: sautéing onions, garlic, ginger etc. before adding the lentils, curry paste, and water Using chicken stock or coconut milk instead of water Top with a dollop of Greek yogurt, pickled stuff, herbs, olive oil and lemon Obvs it shines over rice, but I also love this as a spread, a dip, reheated as a savory breakfast porridge, or as a bed for a cooked fish

Exploration: LIVE!

My newest parasocial bag is Natalie Rotter-Laitman and Charley Bardey’s loosely structured chat podcast where they discuss novel ~Ideas~ with their esteemed guests. is it, ultimately, another podcast hosted by Brooklyn-based comedians with a vague premise where they just riff and giggle the whole time? Kinda yeah! But they strike just the right balance of casual and intellectual, and, crucially, are so sweet to eachother that this one really stands out for me (and honey I’ve been around the block) start with a Celeste Yim episode and tell me if you don’t feel your brain being rewired within an hour.
