Norwegian Wood by Murakami

Anyone who likes a deep, raw, and introspective read. Was flying out of Korea and this was the only english book that I could afford and that I hadn’t read. Honestly one of my new favorites, I love all his work but this book feel very human and natural. Deals with themes of broken love, mental health, and most of all finding yourself in your youth. Good rec for my book lovers!!

On earth we are briefly gorgeous by Ocean Vuong

I finally got around to reading this book after hearing all about it over the internet. It’s so beautifully written, poetic, and meaningful. The authors way with words is honestly breathtaking. No matter what type of book you’re into, this is an eye-opening piece of literature. Talks about the struggles of living in a an immigrant family and the challenges of growing up in a world where you’re not accepted. Amazing imagery and detail.

A private night under Mt. Fuji

One of my favorite nights I spent in Japan was in the town of Yamanakako-Mura (山中湖村)right at the base of Mt.Fuji and facing the view of Lake Yamanaka. I can describe the stay as a more peaceful and secluded place in Japan. The whole town has the quaint quiet Japanese feel, it was about a hour ride on the bullet train from the capital and about another hour or so on bus with a stunning view of the mountain. It felt tucked away from the city and nice break from the fast-paced world of Tokyo. Perfect for a couples getaway but is also kid friendly as I went with my whole family. It included a kitchen, bathroom, loft, grill, sauna and hot tub. If you want to feel like one with nature and experience the rural side of the country while also live in comfort, this is the perfect place for you!
