My Rec League Starter Pack

Espresso or Cold Brew Tonic

For about 8 months I couldn’t have a lick of dairy or soy. And I live for my morning pour over with whole milk or when I’m out, a cortado. Milk substitutes didn’t cut it, or still contained allergens. Enter the espresso or cold brew tonic which felt fancy but fool proof to replicate at home. While mostly back to cow milk, this continues to be a delightful summer pick me up.

Shrub

Past their prime plums? Nearly expired strawberries? A sad melon… shrub! A beautiful ratio of macerated fruit to vinegar, left to funkify and excite your next carbonated water or cocktail.

A humble but mighty spicy tomato fennel lentil soup

This is primarily pantry ingredients but it sings in the winter, is filling, healthy, and perfect with grilled cheese or bread and a salad. Freezes exceptionally well too!

Lemony chicken feta meatball soup

I wish I would have quadrupled the recipe the first time I made it. It was so bright in contrast to my wintry cooking repertoire and a hit with extended family.
