I uwu therefore I am. Cute Accelerationism is a fabulous manifesto and contemplation on the politics of cuteness in the ways we engage with the world. My intrigue in the book stemmed from a desire to understand the kawaii phenomenon in shaping the new Asian identity.

Sometimes I feel silly in academia because apparently this essay is a household favorite. I was introduced to it last year by my roommate while writing my application for graduate school. The circuit in which Steyerl discusses in 2009 continues to mutate to means unimaginable in 2026. It’s funny how history works like that.

Used bookstores with cats

I’ve been really enjoying visiting all the used bookstores around the city. There is also a bookstore on the Venice boardwalk with two cats as well. They sell newer books though. My friend Joseph put me on the Illiad and the cats names are Zeus and I-forgot-the-other-ones-name. They had a really great collection of tattoo books that I hadn’t seen elsewhere before. I picked up a tattoo book by Taschen when I visited.

Anuschka hand painted bags

The instagram algorithm gods have been sending me many suggestions for purchase. They are wrong a lot of the times, but I can’t lie I learned about Anuschka purses through a Poshmark ad. They are hand painted, and I find the illustrative style very fun. The color scheme rather reminds me of neo traditional tattoos. I have been thinking about how to incorporate this type of quality in my tattoo work.
