A Marriage at Sea
I love nonfiction books about adventures that turn into disasters (morbid curiosity I guess). This one is incredibly engrossing
Nebesa
Nebesa in Kobarid, Slovenia. They’re the most amazing chalets that overlook the Soča Valley and the Julian Alps. They have a larder with local cheese, cured meats, jams, wines, etc that you can go in and grab at any time to take back to your room, and a sauna with a view of the valley. It’s close to Slovenian wine country, hiking, and the 3 michelin starred Hiša Franko.
A Small Place
The most amazing blend of memoir and travel writing about Antigua. Jamaica Kincaid’s voice is smart, clear, and evocative.
Catch-22 miniseries
One of the all-time most underrated miniseries/literature adaptations. Hilarious and gut-wrenching. Perfect for those who want to watch something smart but don’t have the patience for 453 pages of literature
