consider getting into the fiber arts!

i may be really biased, but i love the fiber arts! my main focus is embroidery; i also can knit and crochet a bit. once you get the basics of your craft down, it’s very meditative and expressive! image: embroidery on canvas, made by myself

you should be making art!!

please make art. make it awful, make it rushed, make it as fast or slow as you’d like. i don’t care how you do it, just make it. i truly believe that humans are inherently creative; the only difference between someone who looks up to my work, me, and someone who’s work i look up to, is time and timing. make some art today! image: a charcoal drawing i did in my life drawing class earlier this year

bind it yourself!

i will be honest in that it will be a bit of work, and it might be a bit frustrating. however, depending on what you have in your home, this can be an extremely cheap option, especially if you have to have five of these. all you really need is an awl (or something sharp enough to pierce the paper, like a sewing needle) and something to bind the pages together (lace, string, rope, etc). there’s more you can do here too, like making hard covers, however that isn’t necessary to complete it. the link i’ve given has different ways you can bind your book, i personally use/prefer the japanese stab binding method. i hope this helps and i wish you luck!! pic: a homemade sketchbook that i bought at a zine con. yours doesn’t have to be nearly as fancy as this - it’s just one of the many options you have when making your own book
