David Geffen Gallery at LACMA
This gallery/new building was incredible. I have never seen such an expansive collection of art that spans across so many centuries and communities (even compared to the Met). It was extremely interesting to see pieces I have learned about across a number of different art history classes I have taken, in real life.
documenta 15
I first read about documenta 15 in a museum studies course I took last year. Hearing about the curatorial work by ruangrupa an Indonesian collective was not only interesting but informative. The exhibitions central message on collectivity is what makes the documenta 15 so interesting. The collaborative nature it establishes combines artist, artwork, and audience.
gustav klimt
Klimt has always been a huge inspiration to me. Although my artwork is not reflective of his style, in my early art classes, I recreated his “Portrait of Adele Blochbauer” with my face in lieu of the real figure’s.
Museo del Corso Dali Exhibit
When I was studying in Rome for a semester, I visited a small museum called Museo del Corso. It was advertised all over the city for an exhibition on Salvador Dali. It was really interesting to hear about his history and also his talk my inspiration from the Fibonacci sequence, which I did not know anything about.
