The Idiot by Elif Batuman
Best novel I’ve read in a while. Protagonist is a freshman at Harvard in the late 90s. Wonderful dialogue, real & dynamic characters, hilarious details. Semi-autobiographical & lots of fun with language & semiotics.
terrestrials
This show is not the worst. It is the bestrials. Both my kids love it so much, and I’m also entertained and learn a lot. we all sing the theme song together.
The Story of Film: An Odyssey
Dedicate 900 minutes to this magnificent project for a in-depth master class on the first 100 years of the most important art form of the twentieth century. Mark Cousins narrates 15 hour-long episodes with genuine childlike wonder, sincere gratitude for innovation and artistry and a charming Irish accent. It’s comprehensive film history with a distinct point of view.
Pageturners Lounge
Best little neighborhood bar in town. Live music many nights (Jake Bellows every Thursday & an annual Thanksgiving the Last Waltz that’s a stunner), karaoke sometimes, cool buds all the time.
