Riding a cargo bike
Lug your groceries, carry a child or 2, give your friend a lift… all while reducing car traffic and getting your body moving. I got mine, an “acoustic” Yuba Kombi, about 4 years ago when my son was 2yo, and it was life-changing—-not only did it make morning commutes and drop offs easier, but it felt like our radius within our city expanded 10-fold. Bonus: my most precious cargo LOVES it too. I expected to only ride it when carrying my kid, but cargo bikes are sturdier and take up more space than my road bike, so I feel much safer on it and ride it everywhere all the time. It’s also easily adjustable, so my 6’4” husband can ride it too. If I lived in a hillier area or had more than one kid, I’d probably add e-assist. I’d rec my specific bike, but apparently it’s no longer for sale, so linking to the brand. Also highly recommend checking Facebook marketplace/other local resale spots for a used one with all the accessories already added on!
