Von Maur
My grandma and I used to love to go to Von Maur (which used to be called Peterson Von Maur) and so it’s a very grandma-rich environment and aesthetic for me. I am nice friends with the grandmotherly ladies that work in fine women’s wear and at the Chanel counter. Even though I only buy clearance items I feel that as soon as I smell the Von Maur air and hear the piano a’playing I’ve arrived at a delightful OTHER place where I am both a child AND a fancy lady. I am taken care of and my eyes can fill up with all sorts of possible versions of my improved life or wardrobe or scent or clearance shoe - same thing possibly.
nikko g
This is the hardest working nib of all! Perfect for beginners but still one of my top favorites for calligraphy. One note is that it is a sharp one - so if working with a very cotton-y paper it can catch easily and result in a splat!
sequins
It’s a conviction that I stand behind that adding sequins to an otherwise ordinary item of clothing, small bag, or throw pillow is immediately far superior. Whimsy! Special-ness! Party! See also: ribbons.
All the things that Jenny Slate makes and does
One fact is that many things that Jenny Slate creates are wonderful and whimsical. My top three Jenny properties are: Marcel the Shell, her book Little Weirds, and her Parks and Rec character Mona-Lisa Saperstein.
