Herome Nailcare
I’m in a home manicure and nail oil only moment but their polishes are fab too. Something very old Hollywood about the bottle and I love that the top doubles as a cuticle pusher. I discovered this in a cramped back isle of a French pharmacy years ago and have been loyal since. The tools last a lifetime, I’m almost sad my collection is complete because it’s so fun to buy from this line.
Castroni
There is one of these shops in most neighborhoods in Rome, even on the outskirts. Some have cafes too and all have a different selection. I come here to buy non-Italian things (French mustard, English tea, Mexican escabeche) because they sell anything seen as special in Italy food-wise but if I was just visiting, it’s where I would shop for foodstuffs souvenirs. Coffee in beautiful tins, any licorice you could imagine, nonna candies and wild Italian vegetables under oil.
The perfect shirt #101
Known for coming in a variety of stripes, I don’t buy the stripes, but I do swear by the construction of the shirt - long, short, tank, wool, cotton. Just the best. Last years and keep their shape. I found my first one in a thrift store, had to find the source and have been wearing them consistently for the ten years since. They make a pant version too and I just got a pair in wool, will keep you updated.
The Scarpa Mojito
I have these in red with grey laces. They also came with red laces. The shoe is good, been around ages longer than the other brands making the style now and is properly Italian. You can find them in the ancient looking shoe shops in Rome and are just as good for a hike as the city. Always appealing and surprising color combos.
