having a screenshot folder
A desktop folder that is set as the new default destination for screenshots. Idk about universality; for me, I screenshot 1k/day for such a broad variety of purposes it feels like a top ten function of my computer. As a bonus, every now and then (manic) you can delete everything in the folder as a treat.
Replacing “but” with “and”
For several years I’ve used a linguistic speed bump: finding phrasing that reframes ‘no, but’ as ‘yes, and.’ While it’s effortless more often than I’d think, the moments of friction are the valuable ones.

Helping turtles cross the road
Taking surface streets rather than the highway. Developing terminator eyes for shell shapes on the roadside. Fast u-turns on two lane highways. Flashers on, cars whizzing by, the alien feeling of being a human in a place for meant for cars. How the turtles aren’t just not cars, they’re turtles. Being filled with an enormous love and sadness. I moved eight turtles across the road this year!
