Probably, most likely, one of the best places to eat in LA, especially if you grew up in New England. Coastal Italian, cash only, your glass will always be full. Only open fall-spring in LA.
John Singer Sargent
In my top 3 American painters, his brushwork & depiction of ethereal beauty always astounds. His portraits stand out, even shout at you across a crowded gallery. You can find a bevy of them at Boston’s MFA, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum & The MST, but I like this gem I saw at London’s National Portrait Gallery recently.
The Silverlake Reservoir
Stressed? A walk around the reservoir will make everything better & you might see cute things like a dog in a backpack that make you smile. 2 miles around, go twice for extra measure.

I’m a bit hesitant to share this because I really love popping by Dave’s on Sunday am, enjoying a cup of coffee & a scone with a few passing friends. But he deserves recognition for his amazing whole grain breads, pastries & other surprise treats.
