“She’s the Best” by Troye Sivan
The new single off his forthcoming album which arrives October 9. As a massive fan of his previous record which was packed with perfect pop bops, it took me a minute to adjust to “She’s the Best” - a more languid and talky track. But fuck, I’ve adjusted, and this song is GREAT. A feel-good-ode to all his favorite femmes, you can’t help but see your own bffs in it. Sexy / slinky and then rollicking, it’s a song that keeps on giving. Did I mention fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman stars in the sumptuous video?? Five stars.

Shredded Parmesan
Sometimes you just need to eat it, right out the tub.

The Hounding
If The Virgin Suicides and The Crucible birthed a pitch perfect gothic novel. The plotting is sharp, the characters rich, and the flashes of female-directed rage are spine-tinglingly apt. I’ve handed this book out to friends like a party favor, it’s just that delicious. Stomp the floor, ring the bell! This should be your next read.

Valley Girl
It’s 1983 and Nicolas Cage has come from Hollywood (“over the hill”) to save you from your maudlin San Fernando existence. As a born and bred valley girl, this one’s a cultural artifact as well as a campy Lynchian pre-Clueless. “She’s cool. He’s hot. She’s from the valley. He’s not.”
