up-island (Martha's Vineyard) (in the off-season)
Chilmark, Menemsha, and Aquinnah for long walks and raiding farmstands for cheeses, spring veggies, flowers. Visit the Trustees of Reservations hiking trails to Menemsha Hills. Take the (friendly, amazing) bus to Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven for dreamy feasts of oysters and fried things by the water and two bar seats under the fairy lights at Sweet Life Cafe. No reservations needed... June is very much the off season. It's cloudy, cool, and breezy. It's perfect.

the most practical, stylish, best-ever cooler backpack
I got mine (in black) EIGHTEEN years ago at a cute lil gift shop I worked at in college. It only THIS WEEK bit the dust and that's because I goofed and ran it through a commercial dishwashing machine, which naturally melted many important bits. After doing the math on how long that baby had been with me and how much I used it - always, all the time, especially in summer/on a boat/at a festival - it's perfect for a bottle of wine and snacks - I immediately went to see if DSH still made them, and voila. Or should I say "varsågod"?

for beachy waves when you're landlocked
OUAI Wave Spray actually adds some volume as well as define curls and waves. The smell is intense and not that great (floral something) but thankfully evaporates. It's one of those rare products I buy two of: one for bag, one for home.

Heart, by Gail Godwin
For an author so well known, this one seems to have slipped under the radar. I didn't so much care that there wasn't a "point" to the examination of the heart as a symbol, no big grand conclusion to all her research and essays. It's an imperfect but lovely little book. Sad and beautiful. We're just humans!
