Coming to My Senses: The Making of a Counterculture Cook
I’m a B+ cook but I always find reading books about people who love food inspiring. Alice’s connection to nature, her love for French food and culture, her recollection of her childhood and the pivotal political years in Berkeley during the 60s are all a pleasure to read. It’ll make you want to follow your arrow, get your hands in the dirt, and make something :)
Yellow (Ataulfo) Mango
I’ll never look at a Red Mango again after having the Ataulfo Mango. It will blow your mind and transport you to a tropical island. It’s a dessert in its own and my kids think it’s candy. Get it at our local natural grocers ✨
Sidival Fila
Nothing like the words “Franciscan friar” and “artist” will make my ears perk up more. I read about Sidival Fila in the latest World of Interiors magazine and I’m smitten with his technique. So beautiful, so delicate, so monastic.
Kamado-san Donabe Rice Cooker - Black
My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Japan 9 years ago and bought this rice cooker in one of Kyoto’s markets. We toted this heavy ceramic thing all over Japan only to find out that our local kitchen store sold the same one back home. Nonetheless, we use it weekly. Makes the best consistency for white rice.
