check out this new collection of songs from nc artists, including my project, prophetic perfect! you’re going to love cor de lux, neon ruins, the haks, long relief, alla prima, and the king teen (at the very least). there are 70 songs in total, so you’re bound to find something you like! all money from sales of the compilation will go to the flat iron, an independent music venue in greensboro that could use some support. blank tapes put it together. they’re nc’s premier music webzine. definitely worth keeping up with as a way to discover new artists across the state.

maybe my favorite album? nobody wrote songs like david berman. there’s nothing to say about this album that wouldn’t sell it short.

pavements (dir. alex ross perry)

great, fun documentary from 2024 about the band pavement. experimental in style: in addition to covering the band itself, it also digs into the making of a fictionalized biopic about the band as well as a live sung-through jukebox musical featuring their songs (both of which are also directed by alex ross perry). malkmus is curmudgeonly in an endearing way and wonders aloud about whether any of this is a good idea. maybe not? worth a watch just the same. no big hair!
