My Rec League Starter Pack

Women’s Summit Series Verbier GORE-TEX® Jacket

This jacket is the ultimate in protection, function, and feel. It's like putting on my uniform to head to the mountain, and it lets me focus on my own skiing and not think about anything else. It keeps me dry and protected where I live in the wet PNW, and also is breathable enough for all the hikes I do, from a quick ten minute bootpack to a full ski tour on a snowy day. It has the perfect pocket placement for all of my gear (ski pass, goggle cloth, large chest pockets for snacks and camera, and a small front pocket for lip stuff, etc.). This jacket is more of my backcountry jacket for longer days, it's a bit softer and with a slightly lighter feel than the Tsirku (see my other recommendation) which is my lift-riding on hill jacket, because the Tsirku has Spectra ripstop added to it.

Women’s Summit Series Verbier GORE-TEX® Bibs

I started wearing bibs when I was skiing and pregnant with our first kid, ten winters ago. I have not stopped wearing bibs since! I love how warm they keep me, no snow or cold drafts in my mid-section, and once I figured out the learning curve on how to pee with these on (a deep side-zip is a must for peeing on the go!), it's like a little block to pee behind and I can go anywhere, without even removing my jacket. These have excellent pockets and are waterproof, breathable, and a great fit.

The North Face Summit Tsirku GORE-TEX Pro Jacket - Women's

I wore this jacket all winter last winter, and it is the most waterproof coat I've ever had. It still manages to be soft and breathable, which is key where I live in the PNW. I love this color, and I love all of the pockets and features on this jacket. This is more my lift riding jacket--inbounds riding with shorter hikes. The main difference between this jacket and the Verbier jacket is that the Tsirku has Spectra ripstop to make it more durable. It gives the material a slightly more hefty feel, which gives me a protected, armor-ed feeling.

The North Face Summit Tsirku GORE-TEX Pro Bibs - Women's

Bibs are the best--warm, breathable, and geared for movement. These have stretch in the uppers, and the perfect pocket for my phone and essentials, without being too overdone. Minimal for exactly what I need and nothing extra. Super waterproof for riding lifts, with added structure to support movement, hiking and touring.
