My Rec League Starter Pack

Don’t compare your insides with someone else’s outsides

A therapist said this to me over a decade ago, and it’s now a mantra I tell myself sometimes when I’m spiraling and worried about how others see me. We are consumed with our inner lives, and no one is thinking about us as much as we are thinking about ourselves. We have no idea what someone else is experiencing (bottom of the iceberg). Even if I’m panicking, others usually can’t tell, just like I can’t know someone else’s inner experience.

Newsies

I’ve loved this movie since I was 5 years old

Playground Art + Coffee

Good pastries and drinks, very colorful, decent parking options nearby. Very stroller friendly

Take a road trip

I felt similarly a few years ago in my mid-30s. For me, it was angst and a feeling of nostalgia for my 20s/missing not being responsible for anyone/anything (even though I’m not sure that was an accurate representation of my 20s). I started planning a solo trip to visit many friends across the east coast, and intentionally included plenty of alone time (something I became more comfortable with in my 30s). The trip was going to include places I’d been before but also new places. Before I could really commit, my MIL passed away and I got pregnant, so I never got to make the trip, but then for me, the feeling passed after my attention was refocused on these new milestones.
