Another Country by James Baldwin

I first fell in love with James Baldwin’s writing through Giovanni’s Room and Another Country feels like a next step. The story follows a group of friends in 1960s Paris and New York and how they are all entangled with each other and their respective relationships. It’s heartbreaking, funny, tender, and of course beautifully written. Plus I love this era of NYC & Paris so it’s fun to immerse yourself in it !!

Joan Didion’s 1961 Essay on Self Respect

This essay sparked something in me and I think of it often. It’s as if Joan is telling you all the things you know deep down but do not want to hear. Read it and reread it when you need to.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

I’ve read this book half a dozen times. I’ve lost it and repurchased it twice now. I have it three languages. And I always get something new out of it. This book reminds me of the fairytales I used to read as a kid but filled with so many life lessons.

Quit your worst habit

Find whatever is the one habit that’s holding you back the most and focus on stopping that before you try to build any new habits.
