This is my favorite meditation app. Created and maintained by Sam Harris of "new atheism" fame circa 2005. Lots of terrific contempative studies stuff in here to help you create just enough room between trigger and reaction to choose your behavior and tolerate the emotion.

Imaginary Number

I always thought this idea was both clever and pretty lame: draw square root of -1 on your forehead and go as an imaginary number. I never did it myself.

Dress as your partner

I just put on his clothes and stuck a "Hello my name is" sticker on my chest that announced that I was "Carl on another day." If you have access to a lab coat, go as a scientist. That was my standby for many years. A Stepford wife... you might have the costume bits and bobs in your closet already. I added contact lenses that blacked out my irises for a subtle dehumanised look.
