little wine tasting glasses
skip the bougie fragile handblown glassware that will shatter and get yourself some old school little italian (inao) wine tasting glasses.
sqirl, la
when i first moved from new york, i subconsciously (or maybe not so subconsciously...) chose my apartment based on proximity to sqirl (and night + market). the sorrel bowl is my go-to, but i’m often there for their ever-evolving pastry program. and don't even get me started on their dinner program: the branded touch points, the fries, the frozen drinks, the sticky toffee madeleines...
olive oil cake
cake feels like a celebration and my inner child is constantly craving it. i’ve grown a true obsession with olive oil cake specifically. there are a lot of solid olive oil cakes out there, but my favorites lately are l.a. grocery & cafe's gf polenta olive oil cake. in fact, our wedding cake was an epic olive oil sheet cake with raspberry jam from just what i kneaded.
ascaso espresso machine
it’s safe to say i have a crush on an appliance. i did a photo trade for an ascaso espresso machine, and my life honestly changed. every morning cal and i make an oat capp together—and during the la fires, it was literally sitting by the front door next to my go-bag as an essential. i’ve always loved cafe culture, but having this at home deepened the obsession, curbed my daily spending, and makes me feel like a real barista. huge thank you to my coffee spirit guide masha for teaching me the ins and outs. i have yet to master latte art, but come on over for a shot anytime (and i’m forever accepting medium roast whole beans for my fellow opus).
