getting way too into the Olympics
Yes yes yes there are many problems with all of it - the doping, the building stadiums via human rights abuses, etc., etc. BUT there is nothing better than watching people do the thing they are best at, especially if the thing they are best at is incredibly niche. Highly recommend ditching the NBC broadcast and watching events start to finish. Discus? Aerials? Diving? Doesn't matter. Pick an arbitrary athlete/team to root for and just let the natural drama do its thing. Really do it up! For the Tokyo Olympics I only cooked Japanese food for dinner for the entire two weeks, just because. It only comes around every few years so you can build up all of your fan energy.
not knowing more than you have to
There are like a million things that can make a baby challenging. But probably your baby won't have all of those! Trust that when you encounter an issue there will be 45 techniques you can try and in the meantime don't go looking for the solution to problems you don't have. My baby blessedly was an excellent sleeper, and so I know absolutely nothing about wake windows or sleep training, nor would I be able to do anything if handed a child with colic. I do, unfortunately, know everything about exclusive pumping and weird poops. Free yourself from the burden of knowledge!
deciding you are an "advanced beginner"
Pick a project that is too difficult for you but makes your heart happy. You will level up much faster and learn so many new techniques if you're working towards a finished object that you want to own. My first project was the Louise Pullover by Lisa Woolridge and I taught myself short rows, bobbles, picking up sleeves, hell even how to knit in the round. It's a little wonky in some places, but honestly? It looks pretty perfect and it's still one of my best-fitting garments. A garter stitch scarf could never.
Laoganma spicy chili crisp
There are obviously fancier chili crisps on the market, but this is the first one I ate voraciously and so will always have a place in my heart. Plus I like the very serious grandma on it. I am a savory breakfast person and so my go-to is steel cut oats + better than bouillon + chili crisp. People have told me this is "unhinged" for breakfast but I disagree.
