black slim devil ultra wide angle camera
once cheap, now elusive. the black slim devil has been discontinued but if you can find one in the wild and a pack of 35mm film, take some dramatic sweeping ultra wide shots only made more dramatic by black and white film and some wily, windy moors (superheadz has an ultra wide camera i haven’t tried yet)
a search engine that supports climate action
a search engine that uses 100% of ad revenue to plant trees, fund renewable energy and protect biodiversity? transparent enough to share financial reports in an obvious place on their homepage? lets you opt out of AI by unchecking a single box? using ecosia has the same energy as kinetic pavement. it’s part of your environment and you have to walk on it every day, might as well plant millions of trees while you look up which saint is the one holding her own eyes on a plate (it’s st. lucia)
lodge 49
an overlooked tv show about loneliness, grief and regaining purpose and community in a bunch of other lost, lonely weirdos after stumbling on a neglected fraternal lodge. it’s surfer dramedy, magical realism mystery show and trippy dark spiritual deep dive. ultimately it’s hard to define (“it’s silly and profound, deep and frivolous”) have fun taking a casual stroll through this mystical world :)
pontypool
a bizarre concept for a zombie movie that could’ve easily fallen flat if not executed by a director with a vision. unique and does a lot with a little, the kind of movie that creates a lot of tension without showing you everything. don’t expect a typical action zombie flick, this is a psychological thriller. a lower than low budget movie that shoots for the stars and while it might not always land, the fun is in the experiment!
