You do not need fancy hair oils or frizz-free products or shampoos that promise shine. You simply need this Japanese hair dryer. Leaves hair smooth, shiny, soft—and doesn’t take long to do the job. There is a scalp sensing mode which somehow knows not to burn you (or anyone you may be helping, i.e. a child) while still drying your hair. Japan’s onsen culture converted me from being an air dryer girlie to using a blow dryer. But this is the one that sealed it for me. This model specifically because it’s international, which means I can use it in Japan or the states without an outlet converter.

Something that makes an everyday ritual feel luxurious. A soft, sweet scent that is spellbinding. Lathers beautifully and leaves me feeling truly clean, moisturized, and soft. Buy the bottle if you want it (if you have your own at home, that works wonderfully) and then reload with the refillable pouches. Absolutely worth your money, but the cheapest route is buying it at a Donki in Japan, as the price is marked up online and in the states.

Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence

Hands down, this is the best face sunscreen. It has to be the orange/blue tube. (Each color does something different.) This one makes your skin look radiant in a subtle but noticeable way. It’s lightweight and moisturizing with a faint but overall pleasant scent. Its’s not greasy and doesn’t leave any weird residue feeling. Oh, and don’t worry at all about the tint—it just melts into your skin. Cheapest when you buy it at a Donki in Japan, but available on Amazon and other online sites.

Wasabi Soft Serve at Joren Falls

Sweet vanilla soft serve mixed with wasabi? It shouldn’t work but it does. Zero burning sensation, by the way.
