Penzeys spices
Not sure how it happened that I found them a few years ago, but I did and my whole life is the better for it. They obviously have regular herbs and spices, but their blends are workhorses in my house: revolution, shallot pepper and Greek to name just a few. Added bonus, at least for me is that Bill (the owner) pens a fantastic email or three every week and they are as alarmed and fighting for our democracy as I and many others are. The bottles aren’t as hip as some, but that kind of makes me love them more.
Big splurge calendar
This is our third year getting this calendar to hang in our kitchen. It's a piece of art that we change monthly. Everyone looks forward to seeing what the new moth looks like. Hand screen printed by a family…it will make a great gift as well.
Skura sponges
A scrubby side on one side and different foam than most sponges on the other. They don’t stink if someone-who-shall-remain-un-named forgets and leaves them full of water in the sink. The logo also fades to tell you to change them, but we have definitely used far past that with no big issue.
