My Rec League Starter Pack

Peep Show (tv series)

Easily the funniest show. I have conservatively seen the whole thing 30 times and it never stops being funny, shocking, brilliant, or strangely comforting. This is a show that thrives on characters who are consistently themselves, always in damaging ways.

Gushers

These are still delicious and somehow their cloying sweetness is just right. Fruit by the Foot and Fruit Roll-Ups are honorable mentions, but nothing hits like Gushers. I’ve found people also love sharing these with their kids. You can often get them on Martien inexpensively, too.

Fruit Stripes Gum

I don’t even LIKE gum and these lead to unfettered joy. The smell, the pattern, and of course, the cheap and runny tattoos on the wrapper always make people go “oh, shit! I remember these!”

Rugrats holiday episodes

I’ve thrown parties for all kinds of holidays. When you pop one of these episodes on, everyone sits down enraptured like a little kid getting their one hour of weekly screen time. This is the case even with those adults who did NOT grow up with Rugrats. If you’re having a party and want a fun passive activity, you’ve got one. Also — a lot of humor that I didn’t get as a kid hits nicely now.
