Place library holds for picture books!
You don’t have to be beholden to only your toddler’s terrible taste in literary cover art! I place library holds anytime someone mentions a picture book they enjoyed, so there’s always a couple pre-vetted books waiting for us the next time we walk by the library. Sure we also go home with the copy of Boss Baby that someone had tantalizing placed on the return cart, but we’ve also got a couple new-to-us bangers checked out.

Other touristy ideas: Our aquarium has a very cool new building (buy tickets in advance) & the surrounding water front area has been recently redone (if going on a weekday grab lunch at Post Alley Pizza)!
Keeping beach gear in your car all summer.
We drove the long way home from a family gathering to avoid traffic on the highway/theoretically run an errand and ended up at the beach instead! Would have been great to have more than one towel between the four of us and slightly more snacks, but we all left happy.
